I am more convinced than ever that the apostolic – the vision, conviction and grit to start new ministries and extend the Kingdom beyond existing boundaries – is born in prayer.
Before you say, “Ya, duh Beau” think about this:

Today it was just Sean and Kimy and myself and we talked almost fully about administration and getting ready for the Fall.
We have to become an official club so we talked about:

Today was a fun day. It was my first time back on campus in over a month and we had a great conversation. Two new people showed up. One guy, Moses, from Long Beach State and another woman Relene from LBCC. She goes to our church and heard about what we are doing. I love what she has to say in the video reflection.
I was all set to go to campus and pray with Kimy and the team, but I got a call about an hour before saying she had to cancel. It was just too busy of a week with her youth responsibilities at church and they had a big event that night.
So nothing this week.
I am not frustrated. She has been so consistent and this is the reality of giving part of your time to an endeavor. Things come up.
*If I am going to let this be a student led plant, then I am going to hang back when they don’t go. I coach, they lead!

I am still away from campus and have not been able to get there in almost a month. But Long Beach State students keep showing up and partnering with Kimy. In the video below you hear them talking about how they encountered a guy on a prayer walk and they seem very encouraged by that. It also seems like they did some worship though singing on campus too.
I just love their consistency to show up and pray and just be on the campus. This is the dull-drum of summer.
It is one thing to hear God in a general sense – say in our day-to-day life. But what does it look like to hear God in witness when we are on the move and potentially in some awkward situations? How do we know if he is leading us forward or not?
In my book, Beyond Awkward, I spend three chapters on the role of the Holy Spirit in evangelism. Some people have written me, and reviewed, saying it was the most helpful part of the book for them. Others have written wondering when it was I fell off the cart!

With further reflection this summer, and a great conversation with both my brother in law and Tim Catchim, I have come to realize how to talk about the way I see the role of God speaking and the gifts of the Spirit for today.
This post is thinking I am taking further and is not found in my book.
I think a continuum is helpful here.

Kimy is totally gaining strength from the Lord. You can just hear it in her voice.
“Do not despise these small beginnings, for the Lord rejoices to see the work begin…” – Zechariah 4:10
Sometimes we become acutely aware that things are lacking and it reminds us that we long for a greater joy. Here is how I realized that this week!
I have been answering people’s questions over www.beaucrosetto.com and below are four videos for you to enjoy on this Saturday morning.

This week students from Long Beach State, a neighboring campus with a strong InterVarsity chapter, came to pray at Long Beach City College (LBCC)
I have been away from Los Angeles for more than two weeks and I couldn’t be more proud of how Kimy is holding firm in the efforts to plant LBCC. Let me remind you that it is the summer, not a ton of students are around, and in many ways this is a terrible time to plant a ministry.
