[This post is part of the “4 Hour Campus Plant” series. I am live blogging my attempt to plant a ministry at a new campus with only 4 hours a week. This is a continuous story that builds, so make sure to start at the beginning.]
Kimy is totally gaining strength from the Lord. You can just hear it in her voice.
“Do not despise these small beginnings, for the Lord rejoices to see the work begin…” – Zechariah 4:10
I have been out of town for three weeks, so Kimy and the students from Long Beach State are continuing to pray every Friday for the campus.
On another note, it looks like Juan-David, is not involved any more. I am not sure what is up there. Kimy said he is too busy. I am eager to check in with him now that I am back. I am bummed to hear this news because I loved this guy so much.
But this happens all the time when planting. I think one great reason to take the summer to pray like this before launching outreach, is to see who digs in and who fades away. On a purely observing level, Kimy is growing in strength and heart for the campus and Juan-David has gone away. This delayed process of “outreach” has shown us something here.
Many people that start with you don’t finish, and once they group launches it takes on a whole new form. While I am bummed for sure, this cannot deter us or get us down. Please pray for Juan-David, and for more partners on the campus for Kimy.
I cannot wait until the first week of the new semester to actually do some outreach and meet a ton of incoming students. I think God is really preparing a harvest. Anticipation is growing!
